Won the Shaka Bump&Jump Contest 2011 at Lake Garda!!!

ENGLISH (DEUTSCH unten)

Awesome fun, the format is as follows: a boat with 40 spectators and 4 judges goes upwind and downwind through the competition area for 2 hours – participants are hitting the boats wake and try to show the best moves they can,- radical crashes guaranteed.

I was on my 5.2 Gaastra Pure and 98 F2 Rodeo… great combination!
Was landing some high ponches, awesome feeling onehanded ponches, airflakas and onehanded airflakas, some shakas and burners too.. tried double airflakas – will need to learn them till next year I guess.

I was more than happy to be announced the winner of the contest! The other guys were riding really really well too, so I was not expecting that, I saw some nice Culos and Konos from Mattia and Gabriele, awesome forwards by Fabio, a monster Backloop from Roberto Hofmann right in front of me and many more crazy jumps!

The coolest was to sit or stand right behind the boat after you did your trick and see everybody else hitting the wave and flying through the air like crazy… There will be some awesome photos for sure!!

Thanks to Mike and the whole Shaka team for this awesome fun event!! Will be back next year for sure! Will post some photos as soon as I get some.

DEUTSCH

Habe den Shaka Bump&Jump Contest 2011 am Gardasee gewonnen!!! Yeah!!

Rossis late Podersdorf report

Better late than never!?
Had a lot of fun in Podersdorf - first super nice weather, good for the side events and all the parties and during the week we had good wind for the competition this time!
first day i was on 4.2 during the whole afternoon - first won against Jamie Drumond, wasn't sailing great, but i think Jamie was missing one or two moves on one side. Then unfortunately lost against Antony Ruenes, so that was it for the single elimination already for me.
The weather was really bad and we had to wait for a few hours until the double elimination started - at around 7 or 8pm we were in the middle of the first round of the double elimination - won first against Mauricio Alvares from Austria and then luckily against Christofer Kalk from Estonia - was a bit lucky here and there i think - the temperatures and the shifting and gusty  conditions made it not easy to compete...
Due to sketchy forecast, we had skippers meeting at 6am the next day - i was sailing against Max Rowe from England at 6:45am with about 5°C air temperature - was super cold!!
Lost by 1 point against Max - so i ended up on the 17th place this year - still best Austrian - next time better ;)

now back in Tirol - helping out at our surfshop and then going to Lake Garda for some free sailing - looking forward!!

Interview with me on Zakel.ws!

Christos from Zakel.ws did an interview with me - i think he was asking some quite interesting questions...

News: Rossi on F2 Boards!

Great news acutally! After several good years on Exocet, Tricktionary Rossi will be back on F2 Boards from now on!

F2’s back and I am glad to be with them! I was on F2 for many years in the beginning of my windsurfing career and I am very happy to be back. Dani (F2 shaper and product manager Daniel Aeberli) is a good freestyler himself, I know him for a long time, the boards are awesome and the team is cool. I am on the Rodeo 98 for freestyle and the Barracuda 76 in waves right now and I like both of them a lot!

I’ll take part in some of the PWA Freestyle events in 2011 and will hold several events around Europe in our this year’s starting Trickademy (Tricktionary Windsurfing Academy). We have a few more Tricktionary projects coming soon and it’s great to have a well known brand like F2 as a partner there.

No Sylt for me

We were supposed to fly from Tarifa to Germany and drive to the Worldcup in Sylt and be there by Friday, just in time for the competition. However, after giving away the rental car and unloading all the equipment in the airport, we found out the flight was cancelled. It was a Ryan Air flight to Düsseldorf and they told us it was cancelled cause the strike in France... Strange thing is that other planes from other companies did depart...
Well anyway, they let us wait in queue for few hours and then told us, there's nothing they will do but either change the ticket for another Ryan Air flight or refund the money for that flight due to "extraordinary circumstances",... no hotel, no transfer or whatever, nothing...

Well - as i would arrive way too late and it would cost quite a lot of money to go to Sylt now, we decided to stay in Tarifa for a week longer. Got the car back (glad we had a great VW bus from Surferslife Tarifa!!) and drove back to Tarifa where we will stay till next week Friday...

We have Tricktionary books and DVD's in Sylt - so if you are interested, you can see and even buy it there - go to the Windsurfing Journal stand, they will have books and DVD's!
Otherwise, as always you can get more info and also order online at www.tricktionary.net

So... no Sylt for me this year - makes my overall ranking pretty bad as i was missing Lanzarote as well - hope next year goes better!

Good luck to the rest of Team Austria in Sylt!!

See you on the water!
