EFPT Alacati - No wind

After arrival and a nice welcome, as well as some nice dinners and parties, we're now waiting for wind again.
My time in the competition was pretty short - although, the conditions here would be pretty good for me, light wind on the inside and flat water. It is gusty as there's a little port/wall few hundered meters upwind. Unfortunately i was not that lucky with my opponent in the single elimination - i got Bjorn Saragozza - a 15 year old Bonaire kid - sailing on 4,7 when we are hardly planing and bumping on our 5,8's. After the first time our heat was cancelled due to lack of wind, we could finally do it and i had a pretty good heat, as the wind kicked in a bit more at the end of the 5 minutes. I had moves like Grubby, Spock, Eslider, Shaka, Flaka720, Funnell, Puneta and a Ponch - unfortunately i crashed in one shaka attempt and a Lollypop in the last seconds - which was most probably the moves which made me loose. Anyway, Bjorn is a very good sailor already and he might be one of the future talents inventing new moves....

One variation i've seen him doing here was for example: full speed, step around the sail like a Backwind Jibe, step back into the straps on the switch side (Funnell-position) and end it like any Puneta/CF-Puneta or Funnell.

At half past four today (Sunday) the wind turned to normal direction and some whitecaps were visible. Some riders already started to prepare their sails...
Unfortunately it was not picking up enough to do any more heats. For that reason the competition was officially finished today at 5pm without a result. We had a closing ceremony at 6 and a sponsored barbeque in Surf Paradise Garden after that.

Well, i packed my stuff already and we're ready to leave with the transfer at 7am tomorrow morning.

Greets from Turkey!
