PWA Freestyle Fuerteventura day 1

First heat went well!

Conditions were difficult, very gusty conditions made it very hard for all the sailors to do manoeuvres, nevertheless, the day saw amazing action with sick moves on pretty small sails.

My heat against my good friend Mattia Pedrani (I-00) from Italy, went well, besides other moves, I could score a very nice Double Eslider and Gozzada900. Next round saw me against Gollito Estredo (V01) the current world champion in Freestyle – not much to do against him, even though my friends said it was close for some time, as he had a bad heat,…

9th place in the single elimination is a good start – we’ll see who comes to me in the double and if I can continue with good moves. The forecast looks like a full power week end, there’s steadily increasing wind (maybe bit more sideshore, so hopefully not so gusty anymore) and also bigger waves to come… stay tuned and make sure you check www.pwaworldtour.com and www.continentseven.com for updates!!

PWA Podersdorf 2010

Been at the PWA Freestyle Surf Worldcup in Podersdorf / Austria for the past 6 days. Was a great event once again!

However it was very light wind in the beginning, it looked like we wouldn't even be able to get a result done. The last chance was our last competition day, so the Race management set the skippers meeting to 5:30 am (!!). Luckily the wind was with us - on the limit, but it was there! - we did a whole single elimination!

Wasn't that good for me, i ended up on the 17th place, got kicked out by super good and young rider Dieter van der Eyken. The wind was very light during the whole competition, was on my 5.8m² Loft Wavescape and my Exocet I-Style 101.

Here the result:

1st place: Taty Frans
2nd place: Seven van Broekhoven
3rd place: Gollito Estredo
4th place: Kiri Thode

We had and still have the Tricktionary II book and the Tricktionary DVD available at the Tricktionary/Hangloose/Windsurfing Journal stand. The Tricktionary DVD also at the Continentseven stand - even though it's the kiteevent now, you can still check out our products there! ;)

Lago di Garda training 2010

Just came back from a few days of freestyle training at Lake Garda / Italy.
Now, in spring, it's great there, the water is warm enough to go without shoes already and the ora (thermal south wind in the afternoon) is pretty strong...

Had some great days and the chance to train with Mattia Pedrani - best sailor there and a good friend... was good fun..

Here some photos from the Lake (by Sandra Schennach):

Cartagena 2010 - back again!

We're back here in Cartagena de Indias in Colombia.
Shooting a movie "Colombia - Windsurfing into the Unknown" - and working on some great new Tricktionary projects... stay tuned!

Reporting from Maui-Hawaii

Being on Maui, working on some top secret projects... ;)
Yesterday it was pretty windy and no waves, so me and Leo Ray were in Sprecks doing some Freestyle... it was nice cause i could test my new Loft Wavescape 4,2 - amazing... :)
Here some photos from that day (the freestyle shots... the rest are wave-shots from Hookipa few weeks before...)

Today the swell arrived - and was pretty big already at times (at least for me) - Upper Kanaha was great fun on 4,7

I just found out what a huge difference the trim makes on waveboards!! Last week with waves, i thought how the hell can those guys put soo much pressure on the rails and do such tight turns... was just impossible for me... Well i thought it's cause i am just not used to it...
Today i read my book - the Tricktionary (see www.tricktionary.net ) - You should know, the wave-part was written by John Skye (John's really good now - wow!), he's a real wave-pro, doing this for many years, he knows exactly those tips and tricks that you otherwise have to learn over the years.
So i put the fin 1.5 cm forward - tadaaaaa... WOW - my board is now feeling soo much better in turns!!

My tip: Really test with the trim of your equipment!! Or let somebody experienced adjust it for you once. Try to do the manoeuvres you can do best and try to feel how the boards performance changes with just little changes you do to your boom height, mast foot position, footstrap position, fin position and size,...
Sometimes it isn't your fault that a manoeuvre doesn't work, it's just more difficult because of some wrong setting!!

Christmas is close, if you want to order books or DVD's from our website, please do it soon! Otherwise it's not sure international orders arrive on time for Christmas!
